In London
Posted June 20th, 2008 by CarlosI’m now in London. For those who care, the network setup at the Generator London is the same as in Berlin. Maybe some of you will know how I’m getting Internet access. Here it seems to be quite slow, unlike Berlin. Oh well.
In other news, my phone’s GSM antenna stopped working as soon as I landed at Stansted. Well, not quite: for a few minutes, it would still list the available networks. Now it doesn’t even do that. It’s not the SIM card, as it happens on three different ones. Wi-Fi and GPS seem to be working normally. I may need a new phone, which is double annoying as I thought about bringing an extra one in case.
UPDATE: It turns out the roaming on two of my cards doesn’t work and the third one hasn’t been used in so long it has been canceled. The networks and mobile then violated the Principle of Least Surprise and make it look like the antenna was broken. Telcoworld strikes again!
This is made even more annoying by the fact that I’m meeting a friend, and the onl way we have of meeting is calling or texting each other. Bummer.
